Matt Kay is a photographer based in Durban, South Africa. Kay studied at the Market Photo Workshop in Johannesburg and is currently studying a fine arts masters program through the University of the Witwatersrand.

Kay was the recipient of the Ithuba Arts trust and the Tierney Fellowship in 2014 during which he was mentored by David Goldblatt. Over the past few years Kay has been nominated for numerous awards including the Gabriele Basilico Prize in Architecture and Landscape Photography—2015 and PDN global top 30 emerging photographers edition 2016/2017.

He recently had a solo show The Front at the KZNSA gallery in Durban and his work Losing Ground was shown in the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography in Switzerland 2016.
